the ASUS EeePC... about $300 form target or Best Buy.

Linux based (so fewer virus concerns, but no IE-exclusive web-browsing). I read a lot of eBooks lately, and when @ 2nd job, which is as a Security Guard, that helps. 4Gb drive, SD type. Wireless available. White or Black in stores, other colors avail online/elsewhere I presume.

I just didn't see the point in paying $300 for an eBook reader, which did ONLY that, or $300 for something that does eReading, as well as lets me keep up on my email & LJ (and DragonCave eggs).

Battery life is about 4hrs... so again, not as good as the eReaders... but does well enough for commuting (I slug - google it lol) & staying awake @ guard-duty.

Overall, I've been pretty happy w/ it. Eventually I'll probably get a eBook reader, but in the meantime, this is working nicely.

I love the name of that one. :D Makes me giggle. I've been looking at the Wind U100. Have to see what's in the budget but I would love to have one. Much more portable than my Toshiba Satellite.
